Sharkey's and the Fishing Peir

Sharkey's is located on the north side of Venice, just next to Venice Airport. The fishing pier there is free both for walking along and also for fishing - which is extremely popular (with as many women as men getting involved). The view from the pier looking back at the beaches, Sharkeys and across to Pelican point is great in the day but really comes into its own in the evening as the sun goes down. From the pier, watch the fishermen (& women) reeling in their catches - with the larger and more interesting ones being landed during the evening! - the schools of stingrays circling around, the surfers alongside catching the swell from some far off tropical storm on the other side of the Gulf.

Whilst there, check out Sharkey's restaurant for a fantastic selection of fish - eating inside in the cool air conditioning looking over the beach and pier from large picture windows or outside under the palm topped roof, next to the Tikki bar to sample a real tropical atmosphere. Book there for an evening meal and watch the fantastic view of the sun setting over the Gulf, setting any clouds in the sky alight with a blood red fire of orange and red - then go & see what the fishermen have brought in!!
